Behind the scenes at Grimstead

Having successfully created Darkfire castle, this weekends pet project is rebuilding the Hamdun Village.

A few weeks ago after i created a new neighborhood for Darkfire mountains i learned how to perform terrain surgery.

When i first created Grimstead i was a bit of a Sim2 newbie, and I’d picked on of the basic neighborhoods, however recently I’ve before increasingly unhappy with it, and so I’ve entirely replaced the map.

Advantages of the new map :-

• It’s flatter … at least its flatter were it counts ie where the lots go.
• I’ve used roads to split it up into various different estates, they have roads joining them but now i have a clearer idea of who lives near who.

I couldn’t take a picture of it all but you can see what i mean.

The top Plateau is the Beaumont estate, the path behind that “leads to the mountains.

The second plateau is where the monastery, Silverhand castle, barracks etc are and in the foreground we can see the Vaux estate.

Anyway back to this weekends pet project, i plan to try and re-create Hamdun village, since I’ve got a new map I’ve got the urge to make the whole thing look the part.

The fire in the game is a good excuse for a good sort out of the Hamdun estate I’ll move onto the others as and when i can for now the other homes are sort of plonked in the right place.

I want to give the impression of a small and bustling village. So ill be creating a collection of houses, some will be inhabited with playable’s and some lots will be empty ready for new sims and in theory ” where the townies live “

Things ill need :-

• Village square
• Shops
• Church
• Cheap peasant hovels
• Peasant farms – on the out skirts
• Merchant class homes – with and without home business’s.

What i already have and need to keep :-

• Hamdun Castle
• Daisy’s House
• Talons Tavern
• Aarons Farm (outside fire area)
• Kaiden’s old house (outside fire area)

Here’s a photo of the Hamdun estate as is currently stands. as you can see its hardly the bustling village I am after.

Here we can see, Hamdun castle at the top.. near a road that leads up to the Beaumont estate, next to it Daisys house.

Then the tavern on the left and Aarons farm at the bottom next to Kaidens old house.

Hopefully finger’s crossed when im done this will look like a village lol.
