Hamdun – Village Renovation : Stage 2

November 10, 2007 at 11:02 am (Hamdun, Kingdom Overview)

Having built the village Square with several community lots for my sim’s to buy it was time to add some residential area’s.

As this is a new map im not tied to keeping the building where the originally stood, the main problem i found was that because my old map had been anything but flat a lot of my lots warped the new map, creating a loot i really wasn’t too fond of.

I need to keep Hamdun castle, I spent a lot of time creating the lot however it is one of the worst lots i have for warping the surrounding area.

I’d already found a spot where it wasn’t too bad up against the mountains, is it won’t hurt other lot placement in the future so i decided to leave the castle there, besides it made sense the Hamduns wouldn’t live in the village center it’s self.

Daisy’s lot was also not flat, but i found a spot next to the castle where it was suffer able.

The next problem was Talons farm,Talons tavern and Kaidens house, the farm i scrapped completely and re-built on a flat lot, however i really like the tavern and Kaiden’s house, so i found a spot on the outskirts of the village where the warping wouldn’t effect too much.

Here’s the new Farm template for the Hamdun village, these cost 10k unfurnished, as you can see it pre-setup a market stall affair for the home business.

They are a reasonable size on the inside, easily big enough for a 3-4 kid family to live, as long as they don’t mind getting cozy.

Having done that I returned to the center of the village, i created the map with marylou’s 1×1 and 1×2 lots in mind, with 4 main streets leading to my shopping center as it where. The closer you get to the castle from the village the higher class i want it to get, and the peasants live as far from the castle as possible.

I built some, 1×1 tiny one room shacks ( starter houses for peasants ) baring in mind i use a no20khandout hack so many of my peasants start with less than 5k, these have an unfurnished cost of 3.5k. and are literally 2 rooms one upstairs one downstairs, with a bucket outside to pee in lol.

I built a 1X2 terraced house affair, this was designed to be a sort of communal peasant house, 2-4 family’s living together.

I have a door locking hack that allows me to set up “flats” as it where, granted they still all share the same family funds but if work out each familys share of the taxs etc and buy house items for keeping in there inventory, so I should be able to manage.

These were really built for “Orphans” from the monastery, or for really poor familys who couldn’t even afford to give there children enough money to start a house.

It costs $13k to buy initially but when it’s time for me to throw a family in there, I’ll set up moniques payment mod to give the peasants a initial loan from Gabriel. The hack allows interest etc to be attached so it should work very nicely, family will be stuck there in the “work house” as it where until the loan is paid in full and they have saved enough to move.

Having sorted out the peasant farms and started homes i needed a peasant step up home. I’ll be getting Jack and Sable Talon, moving to the village start of next round as Peter’s gone off up to Darkfire Castle.

Sables got 3 children now and their family funds is around 13k so I needed something modest that would fit 3 kids but wasn’t a farm as neither sable and jack are farmers and neither are a lot of my peasants.

Anyway this is what I came up with… its 8k unfurnished, I realize 8 doesn’t seem like much of a step up home however saving 8k for my peasants can be quite a task hehe.

It has 3 floors and although the top floor is really just a tiny attic but it should do the Talons and any other peasant familys in there sort of financial position.

I’m not bothering with any houses bigger than this for peasants if I need them later they can be built. It makes no sense Gabriel would built houses he doesn’t need, and theres plenty of room to expand the village if needed.

Here’s a picture so far…. i tried to keep all the colours similar to give a feeling of consistency, I won’t do this on all my villages but as this is being built all at once after the fire it made sense.
