Tax Systems
Ugh…. ok so I’ve been pretty unhappy with the way my tax system has been set up since the change.
Now don’t get me wrong i actually like the tools i love inges rent hack and mortgage shrubs but using them the way i was was making it very difficult to set different tax’s for different lords etc.
Anyway it all finally came to a head and i decided to tear it apart and come of with something else.
It’s taken the best part of 3 days during the Christmas break to go into all of my family’s take the old system and re-set everyones funds back to what it should be. Anyway having created a new system im much much happier with the results, I’ve only played 2 family’s so far but i just feel it’s going to work better.
Ok firstly there is the tax’s, tax’s work exactly the same for everyone which instantly makes it simpler than the old system. The first thing you’ll notice when i start playing family is that the taxs are much lower than they used to be. The reason for this is because with the recent addition of the wage caps most of my familys are earning a lot less.
Basically tax’s will work as follows. Each lord will have a set tax rate for peasants and merchants, this tax rate can and will be different each lord and will be in the form of a %.
When beginning playing a family’s round i will record their “net worth” from the neighborhood screen. Log them in and visit the phone and use the option to sell community lot (if they have any) to find out the values of their assets (community lots) and adding this to their net worth. Doing this gives homeowners a good advantage in that “home business’s” are therefore effectively free
Once i have the familys total value including “assets” i will use the money order hack to pay the lord the “tax rate”. Example if the lords tax rate is 10% i will pay 10% of the familys total value back to the lord.
If a family lives in a house and can not afford to pay the tax rate, then they will have to take out mortgages bushes to the value they owe so they can send the tax to the lord, they may then pay back these bushes as and when they can. If a family lives in apartments and can’t afford to pay their lord they sadly will have to “sell off furnisher” till they can afford to pay it.
A new addition is rent, I’ll be using inges apartment hack so that the normal rent is sent to the lord who owns the apartments. So that apartment dwellers have to pay both rent and tax’s giving them a significant disadvantage to home owners.
Mortgage’s are also a new addition and a benefit to living in a home rather than renting an apartment, sims may take out mortgages with the lord to help buy houses they can not afford to buy alone (Paying a hefty interest daily till they pay the money back), or may take out mortgages to pay for any other improvements they want, house improvements(furnisher, expansion etc), paying school/university fee’s etc.
I’ve also decided to add limitations to who can live in apartments v’s houses, I’ve decided to keep the rule that “indentured men” are limited to apartments, it makes sense to me that people who are the property of the lord can’t themselves own property and it creates a good reason for people to try and buy their own freedom. This works out fine as it doesn’t involve any changes as all my indentured men where already moved into apartments.
Phew ok finally while i was doing all this I’ve decided to re-vamp the “price” of schooling etc, atm the prices are just to high, even nobles are struggling to send all their children to private school and sending just one child to university is totally unaffordable for even the richest of merchant family’s. Right now a family would have to save up for several generations to get one child into university and thats not really what im after.
So here’s the new lower prices.
