The Whorehouse isn’t fairing so badly, luckily the births have slowed down with the introduction of the herbal birth control that was available in medieval times, it’s not 100% reliable but it cuts the chance of getting pregnant by about 50% (costing 200 X 2 per day). financially the whorehouse is stable, they moved into this building last round a substantial upgrade from their last and business is ticking along nicely.
The whores two sons are growing up well and all this thought of “apprenticeships” has given me the idea of sending both boy’s to stay with Aaron and Aurora Talon to work as farmhands.
The reason for this is that in the whorehouse there is no real future for either child and while we may argue that they have a better start than most of their siblings who wound up in the orphanage or their sisters who look forward to lives following in their mothers footsteps. However it’s unlikely that either boy will gain a trade or otherwise do very well for him self so working on a farm is an acceptable option.
Farmhand apprenticeships differ from those of tradesmen in that they require no sponser or payments, boys/girls are simply sent to live on a farm and if they want to eat they work. If things dont work out (ie if the child causes trouble) they would simply be kicked out and sent back home to their parents.
Aaron and Aurora have plenty of space to take on apprentices, their farmhouse is part of an apartment complex. Their home is the main building as the farm owners and right now it has the loft standing empty which the boys could share.
Granted the Talons do have 3 children of their own which does give me room for thought do i really want 5 children in 1 house?? especially as aurora just got pregnant?? This said though the triplets age up to teen next round and soon after than i hope Erin will move off to find a husband. (argh if i can find her one)
The rest of the “farm” is made up of 3 smaller apartments which are currently occupied by the dreaded apartment life townies, however it’s assumed that the eldest of the triplets will remain in the main house with his parents while the other will move out into one of these apartments and start his life there.
So it’s reasonably feasible to allow the whore’s boys to move in and train as farmhands and perhaps move out into these apartments as soon as they age up to teens themselves. Making the whole thing feasible not to mention an attractive idea, it would mean within a few years i could have the whole complex townie free and functioning as i intended my large farms to function.
Ok decisions made the boy’s will move out at the end of the round allowing them to start the next round in their new surroundings on the farm, allowing them hopefully to build a better lives for themselves than the one there mothers could provide.
Im really starting to like the way my kingdom is falling together it’s been hard work but finally things are taking shape and im starting to get enough people to provide a functioning kingdom.. yay

You should be very proud of your functioning kingdom
It’s incredibly organised.
So just how does your multi-apartment farm work? Can those living in different apartments still work on the main farm? Also do you find 20 day rounds difficult or worth it?
Thanks

My Farm’s function very well actually
well at least they do in theory haha …
the “farmhand” sims .. work as employee’s in the “farm owners shop” and their round is played first.
On logging in they will have all the money they earn’t working in the shop as cash on hand, as this is paid while the farm owners round is played (earn’t hourly for every hour the farmer call’s them into work) it’s not likely to be a great deal of cash but daisy survive’s using this system living in an apartment so i see no reason farm hands can’t.
Farmhands won’t pay tax’s as that will be paid by the main owner so all they have to deal with is day to day living costs and apartment rent.
The round will then be played but With my “no double dip hack” it means that they only actually go to work when my farm owner sim calls them in (on his round), and won’t go to work when thier own round is played giving them plenty of time to harvest / grow veg.
The “veg patch” is in the community area so it re-freshes for each family… each technically planting thier own crops on the same land (logging to another family the crops disappear) As the round go’s on they will garden harvest etc.
when the round is over the final thing the farmhands will do is hand over there crops to the main farm owner, this shouldn’t be hard being nieghbours just use the “gift” option
Once all the farmhands rounds have been played, ill log in the Farm Owner, he will pay his own rent as usual but will also pay “LOT Tax’s” this tax rate will be based on the value of the entire lot, ie the networths of all the familys on the lot added together, chances are this will be quite steap but hey he’s the shop owner he should be earning enough to cover it.
Once i start playing his round i can then sell in the shop all the crops he has in his inventory (the gifts from the farm hands), i figure this could be quite alot as there may be several family’s working full time as farmers to gather it. Naturally when i play the shop i need to then make sure all the farm hands are called in for a full days work to make sure they earn enough to keep them going.
As i say on paper this “appears” to be feasable but only time will tell .. i’ve sort of got it working on Darkfire on the Beav’s farm as Edmund is now the lot owner there with his new wife, while his mother and younger siblings work as farmhands (he mother is the only one to actually work in his shop) but they’ve only played one round so far so it’s still abit early to tell how this will work long term.

20 day rounds are LOOOONG … it was fine when i only had a small number of family’s but im now finding it’s litterally taking forever to get though a round wth all my family’s a problem that is going to get worse before it get’s better.
Something i still need to look at im afraid .. eek.

Ah, thank you! It seems a bit confusing but I am trying as hard as possible to have a functioning kingdom when I eventually start it.
Perhaps something in the Grimstead storyline could mean that Seasons last a year? So instead of each round being 20 days they could be 5…or 10 or 15 however long you want each year to go for.
Thanks
