During Helena and Stephan’s round, Vui on of my other sims came to visit Helena and Stephan. This is a friendship I’ve developed, as i try and keep friendships between sims who realistically storyline wise would actually know each other they are all of the same class and live on the same estate so it seems sensible they know each other.
However during the visit i noticed some spontaneous ACR action going on between Vui and Finnegan Palmer, one of the apartment life townies living in Helena and Stephans block.
Vui has been single since her husband died a few rounds ago and I’ve flitted from thing to thing with her struggling to find a way im happy with her supporting herself and I’ve been unable to find a match husband wise for her within my “playable population”.
I didn’t really want to match her to a townie as that seemed a bit of a cop out, but as it seems the ACR has made a decision for my i am going to allow this ACR driven matching to continue and allow the couple to be together and eventually marry moving into Finnegan apartment leaving the farm behind. (which i didn’t like them living in anyway)
Unfortunately what this will mean is that Gideon won’t inherit anything as all their new stuff will be passed to any children Finnegan and Vui have in the future, not so bad i guess as it’s not as if the family had much to start with sometimes the ability to eat is all a family can hope for.
Starting the round i find hooking up Vui and Finnegan amazingly easy, they have one date at the farm and by the end of it they are married and he’s moved in, because less than a day in game terms has gone by i figure there is no harm in moving them out and back into Finnegan’s apartment straight away.
Im quite cruel Vui has already paid tax’s on the farm and arriving at Finnegan’s apartment i make the couple pay it again for a second time before i start their round together.
Class’s are always a tough thing to decide, i made the rule along time ago that townies could only be noble if they went though university, however that still leaves the decision of the rest between peasant and merchant. A general rule of thumb is that if they are apartment life townies they are the same class as the playables in the same block, which makes Finnegan a peasant the same as Vui.
The rest i randomize, i have a hack and when ever a townie walks onto a lot in normal clothes i switch them using my hack to match the same class of when ever the lot im playing .. so if im playing a merchant lot i switch the clothes to those of merchant standing, that townie is then forever considered a merchant.
However despite his peasant class Finnegan came into the relationship with $19,000 which once the extra tax of $3450 is paid still helps the couple furnish their new apartment. Finnegan was dressed in tatty chain mail so career wise I’ve but him into the law enforcement career making him a village guard, coincidently this is the same career as Gary Vui’s ex husband.
The round pass’s smoothly, with Finnegan around Vui is able to go back to work as a midwife (medical), she needs to start at the bottom again but she already has all the skills/friends to allow her to reach her capped rate of $500 which she gains quite quickly.
The couple don’t take long to have their first and second whoohoo’s and i was surprised to find they didn’t try for a baby despite Finnegan being a family sim. Infact the message didn’t even appear which means that there is 0% chance they will try for one. I guess i shouldn’t be that surprised Vui has 4 children, (5 including the one that died) and as a knowledge sim as far as she’s concerned at least she’s done her bit for the population.
Im not overly worried, Vui might be set against having another child however Finnegan now married is getting the usual “baby wants” meaning for the moment at least he won’t be willing to pay for contraception so it’s only a matter of time before the 40% risky whoosh gets her despite her best efforts to avoid it.
