Ok so it’s time to start breaking down these villages and im going to start with Brightden Crossing which is the Village, Thomas has just liberated and moved Valdermar too.

Valdermar’s estate is now composed of this village and 10 isolated members of the population.

These Isolated Member’s are most likely to be 2 small farms or perhaps 1 large one with workers, i’ve decided in this case it’s going to be 2 small farms. Randomizing i decide on 4 people in one farm, 5 people in the other and then one last single man who is going to be a woodcutter.

I’m not going to decide on names of everyone at this point just rough ideas of who is who and where they live. So for the isolates i’ll have.

1 woodcutter

(M) age 31

Farm

Owner (M) age 63

Wife (F) age 56

(F) age 36

(M) age 38

Teen (F) age : 16

Teen (F) age : 13

Farm

Owner (m) age 42

Wife (f) age 34

Child (M) age : 10

Farmhand (M) age : 18

Starting with the playables who will have moved with Valdermar we have.

Valdermar

Eadric

Farron Carpenter (Indentured)

Orion/Narrisa Carpenter (Indentured)

Hannah

Amber

Alexandria

Tegan

Anna

Lucy Aiden Jones (Indentured)

Gwen

Jacob

Gary/Helena Gothier (Indentured)

Gaelen

Jasper

Leon / Gayle

Amanda

Edith

Vui Hiatt / Finnegan (Indentured)

Gideon

Layla

Ria/Wakeen

This counts as 28 of the population of 303 … just another 275 to go easy hu?

(6 adults accounted for so far)

I’ve used this http://www.welshpiper.com/online-population-generator/ to work out my professions/class’s. Entering 303 i simply clicked the button till it gave me something i could work with baring in mind i have “2 nobles” Valdermar and Eadric and a few law Enforments

So This is what i came up with

Noble House

Valdermar (lord)

Eadric

Servant 2

Officers

Reeve

Messor

Woodward

Constable (Finnigan)

Law Enforcement (Farron) + 1 npc

2 clergy (npc’s)

Freeholders (Skilled trades men ) - 22 (see note below)

2 Military (Aiden, Orion)

Armour

Butcher

Chandler

Charcoaler

2 x Cobblers

Furrier

Maison

Metalsmith

Baker

Potter

2 Tailors

Tanner

Tavern

Timberwight

Tinker

Vintners

Weaver

WoodCrafter

Citizen’s (Peasants+ Unskilled Wifes and children Etc – (268 )

Assumed to Work on or around the land (woodcutters, farmhands, hunters etc)

Midwife (Vui)

Note – I had murder working this out because at first i simply assumed that the “Freeholders” where merchants inclusive of women and children which made no sence to have 22 merchants total and 22 business’s but i later figured that “women and children wheren’t classed as skilled population so they came under the citizen’s bracket. So i will still need at a later date when i would out who lives in which house to work out how many “merchants and peasants” i actually have.

Households

The generator has given me the following buildings in the village.

1 Mansion (Valdermar’s)

1 church for the clergy

28 Business’s (note some of the freeholders have 2 business’s one they live in and one they work in)

1 Municiple (guard station)

38 homes

Im not using this information “yet” but it is useful as it will give me a base to work off later when i 1) build the village in the game and 2) try and work out all the family’s.

Valdermar isn’t doing well, at the moment he’s one his own as his wife and her Lady’s maid are currently living up in Darkfire estate.

Financially he’s struggling and struggling big time. The thing that hit Valdermar hard was the fact that when i installed the mortgage/rent system i made all of the nobles buy the buildings they where then going to rent out. This wasn’t a problem for most of the lords however Valdermar has a large estate with the higher band estate tax and hasn’t actually got that many residents. Father mathew doens’t pay rent, Lars etc are still quite new, Forrest is new ish, leaving his income for a long time dependent on 2 peasant familys and the Gawen’s.

Basically long story short while the other lords could for the most part afford to buy their property’s Valdermar could not and ended up taking out a huge mortgage. In addition to this lorcan is in Knights training and i figure Valdermar is to proud to withdraw him and admit he’s struggling. All in all this means Valdermar’s in major financial hell right now.

The solution TAX RAISE!! ok so as the peasants and merchants rounds have been played already it won’t help till next round but still its a step in the right direction.

Right now people on his estate pay

Adult – $300

Child – $50

New Rate -

Adult – $350

Child – $75

It’s worth noting that the Gothier family although have a reasonable amount of cash on hand can in no way afford this number for very long. That doesn’t matter it’s not Valdermar’s problem its Helena and Stephan’s.

In addition to this there is another thing to consider, Valdermar murdered Lucy Shaw (Head of the Shaw estate) and even though King Thomas isn’t very amused by this state of affair’s the current vampire situation mean’s Valdemar can quite legally take possession of Lucy’s estate. Now i suspect he isn’t going to want to pay estate tax on two estate’s so he’s liable to leave the lands to Lucy’s son Aiden but it’s reasonable to assume he’ll move all take possession of all indentured men on Lucy’s estate.

Looking at the Shaw estate there are the following familys

Carpenter (Orion) – Indentured Merchant

Faron Carpenter – Indentured Merchant

Aiden Jones – Indentured Merchant

Hayden Huntsman – Free Merchant

Bran Howard – Free Merchant

Phoenix Goldman (Lucy’s servants) – Servants Class

Out of these the only ones with any real choice about where they go is Hayden and Bran. With Lucy dead, It’s sensible to assume Hayden will move to the cheapest estate which is the Vaux’s, same with Bran.

Phoenix and his wife Heather where Lucy’s servants and have been left with Lucy’s Children, So i think it’s reasonable to assume Thomas will move them to his own estate to protect them leaving the children in the care of the Goldman’s rather than giving the responsibility for raising them to an outsider. He will however take on the cost of educating the children himself at least till Aiden the hier is old enough to take back the Shaw Estate.

Still that leaves 3 family’s forcibly moved to the Baeumont estate, it won’t effect much this round but next round certainly things are going to be different for all involved.

This does however mean that Valdemar is going to land himself in yet more debt after all the new family’s will need houses … eeek oh well i’ll sort it out next round, hopefully i can move some of them into existing owned apartments.

Ok my first move of the round is to cash in the lot income token’s this raises Valdemar just over $46,000 not bad considering. Next move is to use this to pay off as much of the mortgage as possible, I’ll buy more bush’s as and when i need to be for now the least im paying less.

The round it’s self is fairly uneventful other than the staggering amount of Debt Valdemar is now in.

Financially the Beaumont cut things finely on a monthly basis, 36 years into the game and this estate is only just really getting on it’s feet because unfortunately it’s founding family had a high portion of female children who moved off to other estates when they got married.

However with the addition of 2 much needed NPC familys and the birth of plenty of boy children, It is now getting a good foundation to build on and i anticipate a bright future as soon some of the current kids become old enough to start family’s of their own.

I have to admit the slowness of my game is starting to get to me, i was amazed to discover Valdemar is still only 22 i feel like ive been playing him as an adult for ages, sometimes i have to wonder if i play my game alittle to slowly after all it’s been running for well over 18months now and i still have founding members that are still alive.

Anyhow the Beaumonts are plodding along happily, they cut is close financially however with the addition of Taye/Forrests and Neve’s Incomes this round i suspect things will get much easier from now on.

I have slowly started to improve Valdermar and Marrisa’s relationship this round, not greatly but just enough that they may consider Whoohoo and try for a baby by them selves i won’t spoil it by telling you if she gets pregnant or if she manages to get out of her marriage, but i will say that although it seems there is a lot of couples in my kingdom with “Relationship” issues.

The reason for much of this was because i wanted to break the “get married, have baby’s right away trend” which was causing my kingdom to have population waves, by holding off a few family’s for a few rounds im hoping to stagger the births allowing for a more constent flow of baby’s into the world, which will mean i’ll have some nice variation.

So far i can see by looking at the book of death that it’s starting to work nicely, no longer are all the noble kids all around the same age, and the generations are starting to blur, meaning that 3rd and 4th’s gen’s won’t have such harsh defining lines.. already im finding that some gen 3 kids and marrying gen 4 kids from other familys thus helping to keep the population diverse and reducing my need to bring in “townie” partner’s.

Estate Tax : $5000

Tax’s in : $8,000

This family are financially doing much better than in previous year’s, Tarik moving back to the mountains left his remaining homes to be divided up between the remaining lords and the Baumonts gained Vui and Gary Hiatt a fairly liquid peasant family.

In addition with the re-vamp of my business tax’s to this Clara and Taye paying higher taxs but are managing with the Addition of Forrest to the home and Lastly i gave the Beaumonts the new Karogar household with Lars and his son and although they didn’t pay tax’s this year they will be next so that will provide even more of an income.

Relations in the house are still strained Valdemar and Marrisa are still not getting on though this may or may not change soon, story line has finally gotten around to them but i haven’t yet decided on its outcome.

For now Marrisa is staying well behaved, she doesn’t really get visitors so its hard for her to do anything but to be honest. Valdemar however Frequently visits the whorehouse and has interesting relationship with both the live in staff.

Eden is Marrisa’s cousin and despite having negative chemistry for Valdemar she and he have had a few kiss’s and cuddles but as yet have not made it to the bedroom.

Neve the maid i introduced last round however turned out to have 2 bolts for Val and he has the same for her and its been quite a struggle to keep them apart, and during the back endo of the round she ended up getting pregnant.

I think the funniest thing is that Marrisa really doesn’t seem to care she’s walked passed them kissing on many occasions and hasn’t batted and eyelid which i assume is because i keep her and Valdemar in a content state of minus relations.

I try and improve the decoration etc in each of the houses year by year not only does it keep the “bills” high but it improves the look and feel of the place, I’ll be the first to admit im abit lazy when it comes to decorations etc, i tend to build houses with the bare minimums for survival and forget to make it look nice im especially bad at garden’s.

So by spending a little each year i try and improve gradually, even is its just the placement of weeds / ducks and sacks of grain in the case of peasants.

This year i added a stables to the back of the Beaumont house, it ended up costing about $10,000 but i think its a vast improvement.. i just wish i was a little for artistic in my endeavors.

Having been quite pleased with the work i did on both the Hamdun estate and in Darkfire Mountains I’ve decided to do some work on the rest of the estates and the next on the list is the Beaumont.

As you can see its not very impressive at the moment a couple of random buildings hardly give the impression of the bustling village im after. Like the hamduns im going to create alot of empty lots to sort of pad it out abit, it will give sims somewhere to move to in the future at the very least.

The main differences are however that the Beaumont village has been around for longer than the 30 years the beaumonts themselves have lived there.

So i need to make it look like its always been there rather than being brand new, not only that but the beaumonts are struggling financially on and off, so alot of there un-used buildings are likely to be fairly run down.

We also know the Beaumont estate is small, not in the sense of the land but it doesn’t have many occupants so i can get away with creating far fewer houses.

On the upside however i have a nice patch of ground to work with, so see what i can do

I’m going to keep the Main house where it is, it fits nicely there and tbh i quite like it. other houses that need to be kept are oviously thoses that people live in, and both Helena’s old cottage and Vasyl/Risa’s old house.

This lot is fairly straight forward, the Beaumonts aren’t exactly rolling in money at the moment but their surviving well enough, there two prize poodles are a the top of the show biz career and Valdemar is bringing in a reasonable pay packet as he works his way up the law career.

The relations though out this house are terrible I make sure everyone’s pretty much constantly fighting, however unlike the farmers I couldn’t just set the autonomy low to stop Valdemar and Marrisa heading off the bedroom every 5 minutes.

Mostly because I still wanted both characters urges to be as normal as possible to encourage a little out of marriage relations, which thus far is working great, Valdemar is a frequent visitor of the whore house, he’s also taken an interest in Marrisa’s lady in waiting Eden who for game purposes is her cousin from the mainland.

Like Lucy Marrisa is a Romance sim, thus far she’s managed to stay reasonably faithful to Valdemar, she had one small encounter with Christopher Vaux since she’s been married, I stopped them before things got too carried away but again this is another situation I may or may not pursue storyline wise.

I plan to introduce a 5th member of the household this round, the Beaumonts are financially soluble to afford a maid, usually I pull in a townie in these situations however this time I’ve created a character from scratch using the beautiful rengirl mesh, she’s not been created with any possible men in mind, but we shall see how it works out, maybe she’ll stay single maybe she won’t.
